HAMI EcoFarms × UTAR:
Bridging Agriculture and Academia

HAMI EcoFarms is proud to collaborate with Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) in a groundbreaking initiative that merges academic research with commercial agricultural practice. This partnership marks a milestone in advancing Malaysia’s premium fruit cultivation, particularly through the successful planting and harvesting of premium Japanese muskmelons at UTAR’s experimental plots. The collaboration reflects a shared commitment to nurturing innovation, sustainability, and excellence in local agriculture.

In this joint project, HAMI EcoFarms contributes its industrial expertise and hands-on farming techniques, honed through years of cultivating high-quality Japanese muskmelons under controlled greenhouse environments. By integrating precision methods such as one-stem-one-fruit cultivation, meticulous soil management, and consistent monitoring of sweetness levels, HAMI provides students and researchers with real-world exposure to commercial-scale farming standards rarely accessible in academic settings.

Meanwhile, UTAR’s Faculty of Science and Department of Agricultural and Food Science play a vital role by providing scientific and research-driven perspectives. The university team supports the project through in-depth studies on pest and disease management, soil nutrition, and environmental control, ensuring that the cultivation process is both efficient and sustainable. This synergy between theory and practice strengthens the foundation of evidence-based farming and contributes valuable data to Malaysia’s agricultural innovation landscape.

The partnership between HAMI EcoFarms and UTAR stands as a model of how academia and industry can work hand in hand to elevate the nation’s agri-food sector. Together, both parties aim to refine cultivation techniques, inspire future agriculturists, and position Malaysia as a regional leader in premium fruit production. With each successful harvest, the collaboration continues to bear not only exceptional melons but also the fruits of knowledge, innovation, and shared growth.
